Five things that change the answer completely
And which almost nobody mentions until after a draft itinerary has arrived.
The photographer
The country matters far less than four things, and all four are buyable in most countries.

Given those, Kenya’s conservancies and Botswana’s concessions are both superb. Without them, a shared vehicle at a famous camp is the most expensive way to come home with nothing.
The walker
Laikipia in Kenya, or southern Tanzania — Nyerere and Ruaha. Both permit serious walking with armed guides: half days, full days, and multi-day walks between fly camps.
Most national parks do not permit it at all, which is why a "walking safari" in a famous park is frequently a short stroll near camp rather than the thing you were picturing. Ask what the land permits before you ask what the camp offers.
Anxious about light aircraft
A real constraint, worth stating at the enquiry stage, and one that reorders the whole list.

Teenagers
Kenya, and specifically Laikipia. Minimum ages are more relaxed than in many places, there is a great deal to do out of the vehicle, and the altitude means cool days and lower malaria risk.
The principle: teenagers are bored by six hours of driving and transformed by being allowed out of the car. Riding, walking, rhino tracking on foot, climbing, night drives. Choose the country on that and not on species lists.
Somebody who has been everywhere
Change the form rather than the map.
- A private mobile camp built for a route, moved ahead of you
- Three or four days walking between fly camps
- A boat-based week in the Okavango, where the activity is water
- A photographic trip built around hides and light rather than coverage
- A conservation-led stay, on foot with a monitoring team
These are different experiences rather than different addresses, and they are what people on their tenth trip actually ask for.
